The  Data Architect, will be responsible for conducting full data lifecycle activities including requirements analysis and design, develop analysis and reporting capabilities, and continuously monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements. You will turn data into information, information into insight, and insight into business decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities                                            

  • Execute data management, architecture, integration, and governance strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership for architecture, design, documentation, and maintenance of databases and related systems; create database storage structures, resolve database issues and maintain system security.
  • Support development and implementation of business applications that optimize efficiency and data quality.  Enforce data standards across application stack.
  • Monitor daily operations of data loads to identify data discrepancies, data quality issues, and performance issues.  Work to ensure data consistency and integrity.  Troubleshoot and remediate data load issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and enhance enterprise data dictionary; maintain detailed and current data warehouse and ETL system documentation; define and document internal/external data flows.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources; transform into consumable data source for internal applications.  Maintain data "freshness" through automated or repeatable processes.
  • Collaborate with business partners to transform business requirements into environment specific ETL, reporting, and data validation designs; work closely with management to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Design specifications and standards for semantic layers and multidimensional models for complex Business Intelligence and application development projects.
  • Support Business Intelligence tool architecture, security requirements, and report development as needed.
  • Maintain database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance; and answering user questions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 5+ years of data services experience; 8+ years business experience

Summary of essential job functions


  1. Technical expertise regarding data models, database design and development, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  2. Strong ETL development knowledge (Boomi, SSIS or equivalent) and data warehouse architecture techniques.
  3. Working knowledge of and experience with database administration, programming, indexing, and performance tuning.
  4. Understanding of best practices around database encryption, backup, and recovery.
  5. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Adept at query development, report writing, and presenting findings.
  7. Proven experience in developing creative solutions to technology challenges.
  8. Ability to work as an individual contributor or in a team, including working closely with business professionals and technical resources, and acting as a bridge between the two groups.
  9. Microsoft Office proficient Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  10. Preferred Experience with any of the following:
  • Enterprise Systems Salesforce.com, SharePoint
  • Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) including healthcare transaction sets (837, 834, 270/271)
  • Programming languages T-SQL, Groovy, Javascript or similar
  • Report development (Crystal Reports, SSRS, Tableau)
  • Healthcare industry/HIPPA regulated environment
